6th UN Global Road Safety Week Activities

Low speed streets save lives and are the heart of any community. 30 km/h speed limits where people and traffic mix make for streets that are healthy, green and livable, in other words, streets for life. RSP was proud to support and advocate the 6th United Nations Global Road Safety Week (UNGRSW) held this year from the 17 – 23 May.

The objectives of the Week were to garner policy commitments at national and local levels to deliver 30 km/h speed limits and zones in urban areas; generate local support for such low-speed measures; and build momentum towards the launch of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 in Oct 2021 and the High-Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly in July 2022. Partners worldwide were invited to join the #Love30 campaign to build #StreetsforLife.

Like previous UNGRSW’s Road Safety Pioneers planned different activities including:

  • Asking famous footballers and artists to support the campaign
  • Creating 2 videos (Watch First Video) (Watch Second Video)
  • Translating the information, toolkits, etc. on the global site and ask the relevant organizations to plan an activity for the week

  • Drawing contest for children

  • Starting the #Love30LoveBike campaign to promote safer cycling in Mashhad city
