Fourth UN Global Road Safety Week

Since our national road safety day was on 27th of April we took the advantage of this opportunity and started some of our activities earlier.

We had fruitful meetings for cooperation with other related organizations especially municipality transportation department.

– We prepared a template mail about the week and expected activities for Transportation Dept. of Ministry of Interior and based on that they sent an official mail to all of the provinces. In our province, we did the same and an official letter was sent from Province Governor to all of the cities and small towns.

– Printing “SaveLives #SlowDown” banners, signboards and T-shirts

– Attending Urban Planning Conference and ask all of the attendants to hold the signboard and take a picture with that

– A national photo contest through social media (more than 50 persons with 160 photos participated and 5 top pictures received honorable mention and trophies)

– Asking famous football and tennis players, bicyclists to support the campaign (took a lot of time but it was worth it)

– Establishment of Telegram group to inform about the road safety week. The group was not a public group, but the members were from the key stakeholders in road safety.

During the Slowdown campaign at Kharazmi University in the first day of the week, we tried to make the students familiar with outcomes of excessive speed. The program was announced at the university campus and the students attended to conduct it. Furthermore the department of civil engineering advocated this movement towards safer roads.
